Gerry Martel, known to many as “Mr. Collector Car,” is the owner and founder of GERRY MARTEL CERTIFIED APPRAISERS. He is a certified auto appraiser, a retired musician, and a nightclub entertainer. Gerry is a lifelong automotive enthusiast and collector who lives life in the fast lane. Throughout his career, he has owned more than 100 automobiles, ranging from Auburns to Rolls Royces. The jewel of his collection is a 1958 Bentley Continental Flying Spur, once owned by Alfred Hitchcock. Gerry appraised his first car in 1976 and soon gained a reputation as a knowledgeable and meticulous professional. He is now one of the most experienced certified appraisers in the business.
Gerrys team stays updated on the evolving markets for collector and exotic cars. With a library of over 1,500 books on automotive history and lore, he has refined his expertise by buying, selling, restoring, and enjoying some of the world’s finest cars.
Autobody Work
For years, Gerry owned and operated SCAR CARS, a custom autobody shop specializing in the restoration of classic, antique, and sports cars. The shop catered to automotive icons like Bentley, Bugatti, Duesenberg, Ferrari, Porsche, and Rolls-Royce. He now operates Gerry Martel’s Classic Carriages, where he assists clients in selling and servicing collector cars with the same dedication and expertise.
Gerry also served as the director of the autobody department at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg, MA. Under his guidance, his students developed exceptional skills and are now highly sought-after by prestigious autobody shops throughout the state.

In addition to his work as an appraiser, Gerry is a published author with more than 500 “auto” biographies to his name.
